Thoughts

I went to Kilburn Grammar School with David but was a year above. We both went on the 1965 school trip to Russia where I got to know him better. He got a minor injury playing football against a hard Russian team and I was the first aider. I left school got married and took a job in Nairobi Kenya in 1972. My wife Rosemary and I were driving and stopped to let a pedestrian cross the road and I said I knew that guy. Rosemary doubted it but 2 days later I bumped into him again and we spoke. We became firm friends while he did his 12 months on his PHD on the Kikuyu. We stayed in contact ever since. He taught us a card game called blob which we taught to our children and grandchildren and we still play it when we are together. We will always remember his smile. It was somehow unique to Dave. We even celebrated a Passover ceremony in Nairobi where the Jewish contingent was in the minority but it was great fun and part of our memories of Dave. Forever in our thoughts

We've known Dave for nearly 40 years and enjoyed his company at so many of our celebrations, Christmas, New Year, special birthdays, street parties and even the odd holiday. We will miss his humour and knowledge, but will treasure the happy memories. Dave introduced us to proper Spanish Tapas and long walks when we went to Molino with him and Angela one year. We, remember ,too, with aching sides Dave's example of cycling lustfully in one of the New Year games.

I really enjoyed working with David at the Industrial Society, if I remember correctly our time overlapped for about a decade. He was very involved in keeping the Society going during the “fun” years (PRH fire and rebuilding, Director changes, Service departments relocation to Birmingham etc.). We travelled by train together When he was close to leaving and a great conversation about his time there and future hopes.
